Subsea water injection

OneSubsea is the world leading provider of subsea pumping solutions, with a track record of over 5 million operational hours, and more than 130 pumps delivered globally. Subsea water injection is a well proven application with a strong business case. OneSubsea has delivered and installed 14 of its subsea pumps for water injection purposes.

Why subsea seawater injection?
Subsea water injection is a resource-efficient field development strategy for enhanced oil recovery, providing effective pressure support to reservoirs where needed. Subsea seawater injection may provide significant cost and performance benefits compared with topside injection alternatives, which may require expensive modifications that increase complexity and waste valuable real estate.

Once operational, the injection system ensures optimal production capacity through better use of topside space, and they offset emissions by eliminating the need for fuel to power high-pressure water transport from the surface — relying instead on natural pressures at the seabed to help power injection pumps.

Depending on the reservoir compatibility with the seawater there may be need for disinfection, filtration and treatment of the seawater prior to injecting it.
Core benefits

Seawater quality requirements

Reservoir requirements decide the configuration of the system. Several solutions for seawater treatment are qualified for subsea installations:

  • Raw Seawater
  • Coarse filtration to remove particles
  • Disinfection and particle removal
  • Ultra filtration and sulfate removal

Features

  • CAPEX and OPEX gains from simplified infrastructure and reduced energy use
  • High pressure water injection capabilities
  • Compact and modular
  • Remote monitoring and control through our Subsea Live™ services
